Rabbi Avrohom Moshe Wiesner

Menahel HaVaad

The founding rabbanim of KCL appointed Rabbi Wiesner to take charge of the organization in 1989 because of his expertise in Yoreh Deiah & hilchos treifos. Rabbi Wiesner received semichah from the Karlsburg Dayan, Rav Yechezkel Roth zt”l, and the Klausenberger Dayan, Rav Fishel Hershkowitz. In the early years of KCL, Rabbi Wiesner visited Lamm’s butcher shop in Williamsburg multiple times, where he gained intimate familiarity with the deveining, or nikkur, process. He also traveled to many hotels, where he developed expertise in kashering kitchens.

Up until 2020, Rabbi Wiesner certified flavor plants and industrial production for the OU as well.

Currently, Rabbi Wiesner leads the policy-making and kashrus compliance questions at KCL.

Rabbi Shulem Thumim

Chaver Beis Din

Rabbi Thumim is the rav of  Nachlas Yaakov (Altstadt) of Boro Park, a dayan in Beis Din Maysharim, and has been a posek in Rav Shmuel Meir Katz’s beis horaah for over a decade.  Rabbi Thumim has semichah from BMG, Rav Shmuel Meir Katz, the Skver Dayan of Lakewood, Rav Osher Chaim Lieberman, and Rav Yechezkel Roth. Rabbi Thumim is also a dayan l’inyanei ribbis in Beis Din Maysharim. He  has taught close to 1,000 chassanim to date.

Rabbi Thumim also has semichah in Choshen Mishpat from Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg and Rav Sariel Rosenberg.

Rabbi Thumim inherited a passion for kashrus from his father, Rabbi Dovid Thumim a”h, famed kashrus expert & mashgiach, who discovered and resolved many complex kashrus issues around the globe, and was literally moser nefesh for kashrus, having passed away in a plane crash while inspecting a food plant in South America.

At the KCL, Rabbi Thumim makes sure that both establishments & mashgichim comply with KCL policy.

Rabbi Yosef Fund

Chaver Beis Din

Rabbi Fund is a Moreh Horaah at the Beis Horaah of Lakewood, dayan in the Beis Havaad, communal rav in Beis Aharon of Westgate/Clearstream, bochen for semichah at Beth Medrash Govoha, and posek for Vaad Mishmeres Stam of Lakewood.

Rabbi Fund received shimush from Rav Shloime Miller, Rav Shmuel Felder, and Rav Avraham Tzvi Wosner and is a policy consultant for various kashrus agencies across America.

At the KCL, Rabbi Fund makes sure that both establishments & mashgichim comply with KCL policy.

Rabbi Avrohom Shloime Katz

Catering Coordinator

Rabbi Katz gained shimush in chicken shechitah at the Marvid chicken plant of Montreal — his father (the Dzibo Dayan, HaRav Yechiel Meir Katz shlita, former director of MK Kosher Certification) leads the plant.

Rabbi Katz has training in bedikas tolaim, with expertise in lettuce & greenhouse-grown produce.

Rabbi Katz is also the rav of Beis Medrash Kehillas Howell (Larrabee area).

At the KCL, Rabbi Katz coordinates catering & events to ensure that kashrus is upheld with all the moving pieces involved.

Rabbi Shloime Perl

Head Mashgiach

Rabbi Perl brings his extensive knowledge of hashgachah to KCL, with a specialty in bedikas ofos and kitchen management. Before joining KCL, Rabbi Perl was a mashgiach at Of Tene (Hadera, Israel),  Birdsboro (NY), and Boro Park Matzah Bakery. 

At the KCL, Rabbi Perl oversees all of the mashgichim and deals with issues and questions on the ground. Rabbi Perl uses his vast stores of knowledge to help each establishment find practical solutions to achieve a high level of hashgachah in a way that works for them.

Rabbi Avrohom Gottlieb

Senior Mashgiach

Rabbi Gottlieb brings over 5 years of experience in shechitah for ofos & gassos, as well as bedikas sakinim. After learning from today’s biggest experts in tolaim, Rabbi Gottlieb developed an expertise in bedikas tolaim. Rabbi Gottlieb is KCL’s senior mashgiach who ensures compliance at certified establishments.
